Blueprint
Materials Required:
• Raw eggs (one per team)
• Straws (different sizes and lengths)
• Paper cups
• Tape (masking, duct, or other adhesives)
• Scissors
• Additional stationary materials (e.g., cardboard, paper, rubber bands)
• Elevated platform or structure for dropping (at least 20 feet high)
• Protective gear (e.g., hard hats, safety goggles)
Team Formation:
• Divide participants into teams of 4-6 members
• Encourage diversity in team composition for varied perspectives
Pre-Activity Briefing:
• Explain the rules and objectives of the activity clearly
• Demonstrate the materials and their intended usage
• Emphasize the importance of teamwork, creativity, and strategic thinking
Setup:
• Provide each team with an equal set of materials
• Designate a separate workspace for each team
• Ensure a safe and secure elevated platform or structure for dropping
Design and Construction Phase:
• Allocate a specific time frame (e.g., 30-60 minutes) for teams to design and construct their egg protection devices
• Encourage teams to brainstorm ideas, assign roles, and manage resources effectively
• Facilitate collaboration, communication, and problem-solving within teams
Testing Phase:
• Implement safety protocols (e.g., hard hats, safety goggles)
• Teams take turns dropping their egg protection devices from the designated height
• Observe and record the results (successful or unsuccessful)
Scoring and Evaluation:
• Evaluate teams based on the successful protection of their eggs
• Consider additional criteria such as creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving skills
• Introduce a scoring system (e.g., points for successful drops, deductions for material usage)
