Materials Required:
- A large open space (e.g., a field, gymnasium, or outdoor area)
- A gigantic 20-foot cricket bat (or a custom-made oversized bat)
- Basketball (or a large, lightweight ball)
- Wickets or stumps (can be improvised or purchased)
- Cones or markers to designate the playing area and boundaries
- Safety equipment (e.g., helmets, gloves) if deemed necessary
Pre-Activity Preparation:
- Divide participants into teams (if not pre-assigned)
- Establish playing rules and scoring system
- Designate a playing area and set up the wickets or stumps
- Assign team roles (e.g., batters, bowlers, fielders)
Activity Introduction:
- Explain the objectives and rules of Jumbo Cricket
- Emphasize the importance of teamwork, communication, and safety
- Demonstrate proper techniques for batting, bowling, and fielding (if necessary)
Game Play:
- Teams take turns batting and bowling/fielding
- Batters use the oversized bat to hit the basketball and score runs by running between the wickets
- Bowlers attempt to hit the wickets or get the batter out through traditional cricket dismissal methods (e.g., caught, bowled, run-out)
- Fielders strategically position themselves to stop the ball and prevent runs
- Rotate batting and bowling/fielding teams after a designated number of overs or runs
